Nestled at the foothills of Mount Rainier, the communities surrounding beautiful Lake Tapps are some of the most charming, serene, and desirable in Washington. Developed in 1911 by Puget Sound Energy, the reservoir was used for hydroelectric power until production stopped in 2004. Now in possession of Cascade Water Alliance, there is an agreement in place with the local Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and the Puyallup Tribe to ensure that there are instream flows for fish. The reservoir is also used as a recreational area by local homeowners during the summer.
